The 23rd search is to scrutinise the 3 e-mail attachments on 9 March 2005 and the following e-mail on 10 March 2005 that has the transcribed preambles sent by En. Mohd. Fadli Ghani from Kuala Lumpur. It is 11.16 pm.
Tok Guru Haji Ahmad Mohd. Zain al-Fathani
He mastered 47 knowledge domains which he picked up from Pattani, Mekah, Beirut, Baitul Maqdis, and al-Azhar in Cairo, Egypt. He studied at the al-Azhar University between 1875-1882. He was most probably the first Malay to enter al-Azhar University. His most loved student, Tok Kenali, only managed to learn 24 knowledge domains from him. Tok Guru Haji Ahmad's medical teacher was Syeikh at-Tabib Abdul Rahim al-Kabili who originated from India.
Tok Guru Haji Ahmad Mohd. Zain al-Fathani wrote 2 medical books: Kitab "Tayyibul Ihsan fi Tibbul Insan" and "Luqtat Ijlan".
Book 1: "Tayyibul Ihsan fi Tibbul Insan"
This book was written by Tok Guru Haji Ahmad Mohd. Zain al-Fathani. Here is the preamble as transcribed from Jawi to Rumi by En. Fadli:
"Ini suatu kitab yang kecil dinamakan dia Tayyibul Ihsan fi Tibbul Insan. Pada bicara ilmu tib iaitu mengubati dengan bahasa Melayu melengkapi ia atas beberapa banyak qaedah dan faedah pada ilmu ini dan atas beberapa banyak ubat yang baik adanya lagi yang mudah mendapatkan dan telah dihimpunkan dalam tiap-tiap fasal daripada segala fasalnya beberapa banyak mengubati dan bagai-bagai ubat dan khasiat bagi beberapa penyakit yang tertentu yang munasabah setengahnya dengan setengahnya serta mudah ibaratnya dan nyata kehendaknya. Himpunan al-faqir ar-raaji min rabbih taala al-matan al-waafih...Ahmad bin Muhammad Zain bin Mustafa al-Fathani."
Book 2: "Luqtat Ijlan"
This book was written by Tok Guru Haji Ahmad Mohd. Zain al-Fathani. Here is the preamble as transcribed from Jawi to Rumi by En. Fadli:
"Inilah kitab yang bernama Luqtat al-Ijlan fi ma Tamassu Ilaihi Hajatul Insan pada kelebihan beberapa ayat Qur'an. Dan pada rahsia sunnah daripada Abdullah Taala yang mulia. Dan pada fadhilat beberapa doa dan selawat. Dan pada jampi-jampi yang bahagian asal yang maksur. Dan pada beberapa wujuh dan talam dan hikmat yang bergantung dengan beberapa kehendak yang bersalah-salahan. Dan ubat-ubat dan khasiat yang berlain-lainan yang memberi manfaat insya Allah Taala bagi muslimin. Melengkapkan kitab ini atas sepuluh bab. Tiap-tiap satu bab daripadanya mempunyai beberapa banyak manfaat dan faedah. Dan fadhilat dan rahsia yang mustajib yang indah-indah. Dinukilkan daripada beberapa kitab ulama dan mujarobat hukamak yang percayakan dengan perkataan mereka itu serta dibangsakan tiap-tiap perkataan kepada empunyanya. Atau kepada kitab yang dinukilkan daripadanya. Bagial-faqir ila afwa Allah Taala wa karamah fardhuani Ahmad bin Muhammad Zain bin Mustafa al-Fathani".
Based on Book 2, "Luqtat Ijlan", En. Fadli believes Tok Guru Haji Ahmad Mohd. Zain al-Fathani not only studied medical knowledge, but performed studies (kajian), research (penyelidikan) and read important medical books. Luqtat Ijlan was written in 1884.
En. Fadli has managed to track down 35 more medical books (kitab perubatan).
The most outstanding student of medicine under Tok Guru Haji Ahmad Mohd. Zain al-Fathani was Raja Haji Ahmad Raja Hassan bin Raja Ali Haji Riau.
Raja Haji Ahmad Raja Hassan bin Raja Ali Haji Riau (1865-1955)
He was the most outstanding student of medicine under Tok Guru Haji Ahmad Mohd. Zain al-Fathani. Raja Haji Ahmad Raja Hassan bin Raja Ali Haji Riau was born in Pulau Penyengat in 1865 and died in 1955. He first studied Islamic studies and medicine in Mekah under Tok Guru Haji Ahmad Mohd. Zain al-Fathani in 1881. He became Tabib Kerajaan (government doctor) under Sultan Abdul Rahman Muzaffar Shah Riau. He founded Gedung Obat Engku Daud Raja Hassan in Tanjung Pinang. He wrote 7 books.

This book was written by Raja Haji Ahmad Raja Hassan bin Raja Ali Haji Riau. Here is an excerpt from his book:
It describes the varied ingredients which are commonly used by Malays for all sorts of treatment. Even though there is doubt cast about their medicinal uses, however, they have been shown to be medicinally useful when used traditionally.He also mentioned 'obat polong' to ward off spirits.
Dr. Burhanuddin al-Helmy Mohd. Noor
He wrote many books on science, medicine and biochemistry. In 1950 his books were: Natrium Nutriaticum, Calcarea Flourica, Calcarea Sulphorica, Ferrum Phosphoricum, Natrum Phosphoricum, Silica, Clinical & Therapeutic, Aconite Napellus, Agnus Castus and many more.
President of PAS
According to En. Fadli, both Dr. Burhanuddin and Dr. Haji Abbas Alias were not made famous nor given recognition as they were from opposition party, they were Presiden PAS. However, PAS, Terengganu conferred Datuk to Dr. Haji Abbas Alias in 2001.
