According to the writings of Ahmad Boestamam, the UMNO flag (bendera UMNO) originated from
Sang Saka Merah Putih (the magic of the red and white), which was originally nominated by PKMM at the first UMNO sitting in Dewan Bandaran Ipoh, after UMNO was formed in June 1946;
Sang Saka Merah Putih was actually the PKMM flag. The British had labelled PKMM as leftist but oddly enough, accepted UMNO and its PKMM-derived flag; the round yellow patch and bare green
keris (Malay dagger)
were added later.

UMNO Melaka Division comprised 100 members (instead of 165 members). This issue was raised by Ketua Menteri Melaka, Encik Abdul Ghafar Baba, who questioned Tuan Syed Abdullah bin Ahmad Al-Edrus, UMNO Head. This was published in Berita Harian on 26 June 1963.
Berjanji
--------
Taken from Berita Harian, 26 June 1963, Page 5. Ghaffar: Ta' benar ahli Bandar Hilir 165 orang
