Third quarter (Q3) ends on 10 December 2012. JP Morgan Chase Bank of Sydney, Australia sent the first royalty on 24 December 2012 which amounts to AUD25.47 for Q3 (approximately RM81.30). Not much but good enough for a first timer.

Marketing & Sales

Marketing and sales will certainly need to be stepped-up before orders will increase and royalties follow suit.

Retail outlets

The 2 books can be purchased at many online outlets. These include Xlibris, Amazon, Barnes and Noble, e-Bay, The Book Depository and many more. Please check my previous posts on these outlets.

These books are not available in physical stores in Malaysia (they are not sold in MPH, Kino or Syarikat Muda Osman).

Ibrahim is the son of Dr Mohamed Tahir. Dr Mohamed Tahir is the grandson of Dr Mohamed Ibrahim bin Shaik Ismail, an early Malay doctor and the first Malay doctor of Singapore (according to my research on the early Malay doctors).

Booksellers

All booksellers get 40% discount from the publisher (Xlibris Corporation) all the time, regardless of # of copies ordered. You do not have to know me to be a bookseller for books on The Early Malay Doctors. Please contact Xlibris at their website or call them.

How Xlibris works

Xlibris head office is in Sydney, Australia. The principal and HQ is in Bloomington, Indiana, USA. The publishing operations are based in Cebu, Philippines (same time +800 hours as KL). Printing is done by Milton Keynes in Great Britain. Delivery is by air express courier from UK to worldwide destinations. This usually involves UPS if in USA, Air Asia cargo from UK to Subang, and delivery by FedEx or DHL within Malaysia. All delivery charges are charged to the customer and must be prepaid by the customer before the books will be shipped out. This involves use of credit card (credit card has a limit, usually RM15K for Malaysian cardholders). Do not order beyond your credit card limit. The retail price for the books are published at the Xlibris website but booksellers can sell at any price they wish to. I have not printed the retail price on any of the books.

Difficulties

Please get back to me if you have difficulties getting the 2 books. I will forward your difficulties to Xlibris. You can also contact Xlibris directly if you have difficulties.

Newspapers & magazines

I have not made the 2 books public in newspapers or magazines yet. I'm working on it.

I have also informed and requested Dato Yeoh Poh Hong (MMA) to help circulate news of the 2 books.

Tan Sri Dr Ridzwan Bakar is handling circulation news for MMA.

Advertising & email campaign (EMC)

The text for advertising and campaigning for my 2 books are in this blog at the right panel. Click 501451 for Biography of TEMD. Click 501452 for Research on TEMD. The advertising text and email campaign in this blog are free to copy-edit. Please use them wisely.

Single Item Accessories (SIA)

I have run out of the original printed accessories (bookmarks, picture postcards, business cards). They were printed in the USA. I lost 2 posters of Research on TEMD at the 46 USM Convex in Penang (students misplaced the posters after the event).

You can print bookmarks, poster, banner, postcards, fliers, etc for your use, teaching, bookshops or functions.

Nizam has the original galley files for Research on TEMD which was obtained from Xlibris. You can obtain the galley files from Nizam. The galleys are either low resolution or high resolution.

I have not received the galley for the same accessories for Biography of TEMD. I will pass them on to Nizam once I get them. You can then check with Nizam.

Official launch

USM Medical School has mentioned of an official launch for my 2 books. I have not heard back from Assoc Prof Col (R) Wan Pauzy Wan Ibrahim, Deputy Dean of Industrial Linkages, USM Medical School.

I have not contacted MoHE (Ministry of Higher Education) re an official launch as instructed by an officer there when I last met her during the launch of Majlis Profesor Negara (MPN) at PICC, Putrajaya.

I'll update on activities on The Early Malay Doctors in this blog when I have time. I also have teaching to do. Sometimes I'm out to contact contributors and to speak to people who have the resources for books on The Early Malay Doctors.

Penang

I cannot make it to Penang this weekend as the rain has picked up intensity and it is rather unsafe to use the East-West Highway in the present rough condition. Landslides and cars slipping are common on the E-W Hwy during wet weather.

Kelantan

The flood situation is worsening and flood water is rising in many parts of the state.

My house is 50 feet above river level. USM is also 50 feet above river level. I have to move my stock of books upstairs to the children's bedrooms if the rain does not stop.

The rain has stopped for the longest period on 25 December 2012. But I don't see the sun. It is a bright cloudy day.

Contributors

The names of the contributors for research on The Early Malay Doctors (TEMD) are at the right panel. Click on Contributors.

I have tried to contact contributors but some never replied and some are lost to follow-up. A few have passed on.

I heard some contributors are unwell and cannot reply my email. Please share my heartfelt gratitude to all.

I'm sorry for the great delay in coming up with the main book, Biography of TEMD.

I want to thank all contributors and everyone who helped to make the books a reality, especially the main book, Biography of TEMD.

What more?

I'm still hunting for the 12 doctors who didn't make it to any of the 2 books.

Please contact me. Click on The Author at the right panel. My email is there.

I'm also in Facebook (add Faridah Abdul Rashid or drop me a message in Facebook).
